New Delhi: Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Jagat Prakash Nadda, along with Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, on Friday reviewed the expansion of Project SARATHI across healthcare institutions, with a focus on strengthening patient-centric healthcare through greater community participation and youth engagement.
During the review meeting, the Ministers discussed a scalable framework to institutionalise the initiative by leveraging the network of MY Bharat volunteers, enabling hospitals to provide better non-clinical support to patients and their attendants.
Highlighting the objective of the initiative, Shri J.P. Nadda said that patient-centric healthcare extends beyond medical treatment and includes ensuring that every patient and caregiver receives timely guidance, assistance and compassionate support throughout their hospital journey.
The Ministers reviewed the progress of Project SARATHI, which has successfully improved patient experience by deploying trained volunteers to assist with non-clinical services such as guiding patients within hospitals, providing information, facilitating access to services and helping attendants navigate healthcare facilities.
They noted that by assigning such responsibilities to trained volunteers, healthcare professionals can devote greater attention to clinical care and improve the overall quality and efficiency of medical services.
The meeting also focused on developing a structured model for expanding the initiative to healthcare institutions across the country through the active participation of MY Bharat volunteers.
Shri Nadda said the Government is committed to building a healthcare system that is compassionate, accessible and patient-centric, while encouraging greater community involvement in public health services.
He emphasised that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government is working to strengthen community participation in healthcare delivery and create a more responsive and people-oriented healthcare ecosystem.
The proposed expansion of Project SARATHI is expected to improve the overall hospital experience for patients and their families while supporting healthcare institutions in delivering efficient, humane and accessible services.
