Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday participated in an all-party meeting convened at the Vidhan Bhavan in Lucknow ahead of the Monsoon Session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, which is scheduled to begin on August 3.
The meeting brought together leaders from the ruling party and the Opposition to discuss the smooth conduct of the upcoming Assembly session.
According to Opposition leaders, one of the key issues raised during the meeting was the duration of the Assembly session. They urged the government to extend the number of sitting days to allow adequate discussion on issues concerning the state.
Opposition parties said a longer session would enable members to hold the government accountable and facilitate detailed debates on matters of public importance. They stated that they intend to raise issues including unemployment, law and order, inflation, the alleged lathi-charge on students, and the alleged theft of temple offerings (chadhava) during the proceedings.
The Opposition maintained that extending the session would provide sufficient time for meaningful discussions on these concerns and ensure greater legislative scrutiny of the government’s policies and functioning.
The Uttar Pradesh Assembly session is set to commence on August 3, with several political, economic and public welfare issues expected to dominate the agenda.
