Manila, Philippines (TPW): US Secretary of State Marco Rubio shared details of the meeting of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quad), held on the sidelines of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Manila.
Rubio said the discussions highlighted the importance of strong cooperation among Quad partners to support ASEAN’s priorities and uphold its central role in shaping the regional architecture of the Indo-Pacific.
Reaffirming the shared vision of the United States, India, Australia, and Japan, Rubio said the four countries remain committed to building a free, open, and secure Indo-Pacific founded on the principles of international law, respect for sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
The US Secretary of State emphasized that the Quad continues to be a key priority for all four nations and announced that the grouping will convene again later this year to further advance cooperation on shared challenges.
The Quad partnership, involving India, the United States, Australia, and Japan, focuses on strengthening regional stability, maritime security, resilient supply chains, critical and emerging technologies, humanitarian cooperation, and promoting a rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific region.
