Chandigarh : Chief Justice of India Surya Kant has said that the judiciary will adopt Artificial Intelligence (AI) through a carefully regulated framework to ensure its responsible and effective use.
Addressing concerns over the growing role of AI, the CJI said that the technology would be utilised only through appropriate regulatory measures. He highlighted that the Supreme Court’s website contains detailed AI regulations that explain in a simple and accessible manner how the judiciary is currently using AI and how its applications are planned to be expanded in the future.
“AI will always be used in a regulated manner,” Chief Justice Surya Kant said, underlining the importance of maintaining transparency, accountability, and judicial oversight while integrating emerging technologies into the justice delivery system.
The CJI’s remarks come amid increasing discussions on the role of AI in improving efficiency, accessibility, and innovation in the legal sector while ensuring that technology complements, rather than replaces, human judgment in judicial processes.
