New Delhi/Shanghai: Amid the growing global competition in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for international cooperation to ensure that AI development benefits humanity and supports countries around the world as International media reported.

According to media reports Addressing the ongoing World AI Conference in Shanghai, Xi Jinping stressed that artificial intelligence should be developed with a focus on improving people’s lives and promoting inclusive growth.

He urged nations to work together in advancing AI technologies and provide support to developing countries so that they can also benefit from the opportunities created by this emerging technology.

“The development of AI is not a task for any single country alone but rather an endeavor requiring international coordination,” Xi said, highlighting the need for collective efforts in shaping the future of artificial intelligence.

Although Xi Jinping did not directly mention any country, his remarks are being viewed in the backdrop of the intensifying technology competition between China and the United States, media reports said.

The comments come at a time when Washington has imposed several restrictions aimed at limiting China’s access to advanced semiconductor technology and high-end AI capabilities. Beijing has repeatedly criticised such measures, arguing that global technological progress requires openness and cooperation.

The Shanghai conference has emerged as an important platform for discussions on the future of AI, with global attention focused on how major powers navigate innovation, competition and technological governance.
