New Delhi /Brussels: External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar on Thursday concluded a productive meeting of the India-European Union Trade and Technology Council (TTC), held alongside Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada, and Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India Prof. Ajay K. Sood.
The meeting brought together senior leaders from India and the European Union to review the progress of bilateral cooperation across key strategic sectors. Dr. Jaishankar expressed appreciation to European Commission Executive Vice-President Henna Virkkunen and Commissioners Ekaterina Zaharieva and Maroš Šefčovič for their valuable contributions and constructive deliberations during the discussions.
Highlighting the evolving global economic landscape, the External Affairs Minister noted that the international economy continues to face challenges such as supply chain bottlenecks, market access barriers and technological gaps. He said trusted and dependable partnerships like the one between India and the European Union are increasingly vital in ensuring economic resilience and sustainable growth.
The leaders reviewed ongoing collaboration in strategic technologies, digital connectivity, clean energy, trade, investment and resilient supply chains. Discussions also focused on strengthening cooperation in emerging technologies, skill development, deep-tech startups, green hydrogen, electric vehicles and advanced battery technologies.
Expressing confidence in the future of the partnership, Dr. Jaishankar said the latest meeting of the India-EU Trade and Technology Council would further accelerate bilateral cooperation, supported by the momentum generated through the proposed India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA), the India-EU Security and Defence Partnership, and the Mobility Framework, paving the way for deeper economic and technological collaboration between the two sides.
