New Delhi /Melbourne : India and Australia have reiterated their shared commitment to maintaining peace, security, and stability in the Indo-Pacific region, with discussions covering emerging global security challenges, including concerns related to the recent intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) launch.
Addressing the issue in Melbourne, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that the matter was raised by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese during discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Foreign Secretary Misri stated that Australia expressed certain concerns regarding the development, and Prime Minister Modi highlighted India’s vision of the Indo-Pacific as a region where peace, security, and stability must be ensured.
He said that India and Australia share common interests and objectives in maintaining a secure and stable Indo-Pacific and will continue to exchange views on regional and global developments.
The Foreign Secretary further emphasised that both countries will enhance cooperation across various areas to contribute towards maintaining regional stability and addressing emerging security challenges.
The discussions reflect the growing strategic partnership between India and Australia and their shared commitment to a free, open, inclusive, and peaceful Indo-Pacific region.
