Congress MP Shashi Tharoor Addresses Global Affairs Discussion at UN University in Tokyo

New Delhi /Tokyo : Senior Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP from Thiruvananthapuram, Shashi Tharoor participated in a discussion at the United Nations University, where he spoke on a wide range of global issues, including geopolitics, international trade and the role of higher education in addressing contemporary challenges.

The session, moderated by Mike Baldock of the United Nations, also featured C. Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of O.P. Jindal Global University. Tharoor described the discussion as engaging and said the audience response was overwhelming, with numerous questions remaining unanswered due to time constraints.

Following the event, Tharoor interacted with students from O.P. Jindal Global University participating in a summer programme at the University of Tokyo. Addressing the students, he spoke about the importance of values in university education before engaging in an open discussion on their aspirations, career prospects and the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

Tharoor said the enthusiastic participation from both the academic audience and students reflected a strong interest in global affairs, education and the future of international cooperation.
