New Delhi/London : Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal led the India–UK “Partners in Progress” Business Plenary in London, urging Indian companies to deepen engagement with UK counterparts to fully leverage opportunities under the India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).

The plenary brought together industry leaders from both countries, who described CETA as a transformative framework for boosting bilateral trade, investment, innovation and supply chain resilience. Discussions centred on strengthening economic cooperation and translating the agreement into sustained business growth.

Participants highlighted key priorities for effective implementation, including greater awareness of CETA among MSMEs, simplification of regulatory and certification processes, stronger industry-to-industry partnerships, and improved talent mobility to maximise the agreement’s benefits.

On the occasion, Goyal released four knowledge reports: FICCI’s The Evolving India–UK Partnership, CII’s Indian Roots, British Soil: Charting Indian Industry’s Footprints in the UK 2026, the UKIBC–HSBC UK–India CETA Utilization Manual, and CareEdge’s Sovereign Ratings – A Fresh Perspective. The reports aim to guide businesses in identifying and utilising emerging opportunities under CETA.

Industry representatives also shared recommendations from sectoral roundtables covering healthcare, advanced manufacturing, clean energy, science and technology, services and consumer goods, focusing on expanding collaboration through innovation and investment.

The minister concluded his two-day visit with a debriefing session with the Indian business delegation, where participants shared insights from their engagements and potential business opportunities across sectors.

The engagements reaffirmed growing momentum in India–UK economic relations and a shared commitment to translating the CETA framework into concrete trade and investment outcomes.
