New Delhi : India’s defence exports have reached an all-time high of ₹38,424 crore in the financial year 2025–26, registering a significant growth of 62.66% compared to ₹23,622 crore in the previous fiscal. The achievement reflects the growing strength of the domestic defence manufacturing sector.

The milestone aligns with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to establish India as a leading global defence exporter.

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh praised the performance of the Department of Defence Production, defence exporters, and all stakeholders, stating that India is steadily progressing towards becoming a global hub for defence manufacturing. In a post on X, he highlighted that under the leadership of PM Modi, the country is scripting a strong defence export growth story.

Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) contributed 54.84% to total exports, while the private sector accounted for 45.16%. In value terms, DPSUs recorded exports worth ₹21,071 crore, marking a sharp 151% increase from the previous year, whereas private companies contributed ₹17,353 crore, registering a 14% growth.

The latest figures indicate that India’s defence exports have nearly tripled over the past five years, underlining the sector’s rapid expansion. The growth reflects increasing global demand for Indian-made defence equipment and the country’s deeper integration into international supply chains.

India is now exporting defence products to more than 80 countries, with the number of exporters rising to 145 from 128 in the previous year, a growth of over 13%.

The government’s continued focus on improving ease of doing business and simplifying export procedures has played a crucial role in this achievement. The Department of Defence Production has streamlined regulatory processes through a revamped online portal and simplified standard operating procedures, making it easier for exporters to operate in global markets.
