New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the Kota Airport through a video message today, describing it as a landmark moment for the Hadoti region. He said Rajasthan is advancing at an unprecedented pace, and the new airport will serve as a major driver of economic and industrial growth.

Referring to his recent visit to Ajmer, where projects worth thousands of crores were inaugurated and appointment letters were distributed to over 21,000 youth, the Prime Minister said that such back-to-back events reflect the rapid development taking place across the state.

Shri Modi highlighted that the new airport, being constructed at a cost of around ₹1,500 crore, marks a new beginning for Kota, Bundi, Baran, and Jhalawar. Extending his best wishes to the people, he said the project will accelerate the region’s overall progress and ease travel for residents and businesses alike.

Recalling his visit to Kota in November 2023, the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction that the commitment made to the people is now being fulfilled. He noted that the airport will eliminate the need to travel to Jaipur or Jodhpur for flights, boosting trade and connectivity across the region.

Describing Kota as a hub of both education and energy, Shri Modi praised its contributions to power generation and its globally recognized products such as Kota Doria sarees, Kota stone, and Bundi’s Basmati rice. He said the new airport will further enhance these opportunities.

Highlighting the region’s tourism potential, the Prime Minister mentioned spiritual and natural attractions like Shri Mathuradhish Ji, Garadia Mahadev, and Mukundara Hills. He said improved air connectivity will attract global tourists and benefit local youth, traders, and the economy.

Shri Modi also spoke about the broader connectivity transformation in Kota, including railway modernization under the Amrit Bharat scheme and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. He said the addition of air connectivity will further accelerate the city’s development, especially in agro-based industries.

Acknowledging the efforts of local leadership, the Prime Minister commended Kota MP and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla for his dedication to the region’s progress, describing him as a teacher who manages even the most challenging situations with composure.

Reflecting on India’s aviation growth, Shri Modi noted that the number of airports has more than doubled—from 70 in 2014 to over 160 today. He expressed confidence that the new Kota Airport will similarly boost regional development.

Concluding his address, the Prime Minister emphasized the role of the “Double Engine” government in driving rapid progress and reaffirmed his vision of a prosperous Rajasthan contributing to the goal of a Viksit Bharat.
