Gurugram : The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram has established a dedicated Road Development Cell (RDC) to ensure better planning, effective implementation, strict monitoring, and timely grievance redressal of road infrastructure projects in the city. This cell has become operational with immediate effect.

According to the order issued by Municipal Corporation of Gurugram Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya, this cell will continuously monitor the progress, quality, financial status, and related complaints of road projects to ensure better and safer road facilities for citizens.

According to the orders issued, the Road Development Cell will function under the chairmanship of Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya. Its composition includes senior administrative and technical officials, including Additional Municipal Commissioner Ankita Chaudhary, Chief Engineer Vijay Dhaka, all Executive Engineers and Assistant Engineers, and Consultant Dr. Anita Phalswal. The Additional Commissioner-II has been appointed as the Vice-Chairman and the Chief Engineer as the Member Secretary to ensure administrative and technical coordination.

Regular Monitoring of Major Road Projects

The primary function of the RDC is to continuously review the city’s major road projects. This includes regular monitoring of model road projects, review of all road projects costing ₹25 lakh or more, and evaluation of project timelines, quality standards, and financial progress. This will ensure that road construction works are completed on schedule and in accordance with established standards.

Quick Resolution of Road-Related Complaints

To ensure prompt redressal of citizen-related road complaints, the RDC will monitor complaints received through various platforms, including the CHS/GMDA portal, the MCG mobile app, and the “Mhari Sadak” platform (with priority). The cell will ensure coordinated resolution of these complaints, eliminating the need for citizens to lodge repeated complaints.

The Cell will also coordinate between departments

For the effective implementation of road works, the RDC will coordinate with various departments and agencies, including the GMDA, HSVP, PWD, traffic police, and other utility agencies. This coordination will help expedite the resolution of issues related to road construction, repair, and traffic management.

Reporting, Review, and Other Responsibilities

The Road Development Cell will periodically prepare and submit status reports on projects and grievance redressal to the relevant authority. In addition, the Cell will also oversee the implementation of works as directed by the CAQM, monitor road-related environmental targets, and perform other tasks assigned by the competent authority.

Fortnightly Meetings, Order Implemented Immediately

Under the operational arrangement, the RDC will meet every fortnight or as directed by the Chairman. The concerned regional officers will be required to provide the Cell with necessary data, reports, and updates.

The Municipal Corporation has clarified that this order is effective immediately.

A major step towards improving the city’s road system

According to the Municipal Commissioner, the establishment of the Road Development Cell will strengthen oversight of road projects, increase transparency in construction, and ensure faster resolution of citizen complaints. This will significantly contribute to streamlining and improving Gurugram’s road system.
