Chandigarh : Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) O.P. Singh conducted a surprise late-night inspection of the state’s police arrangements. The unannounced move injected new energy into the policing system. DGP Singh personally drove his vehicle and, starting around 10 p.m., inspected several police stations, checkpoints, and nakas from Yamunanagar to Ambala, interacting directly with field officers.

Night inspection from Yamunanagar to Ambala:

DGP Singh began his late-night visit from the Kalanaur Border Checkpost in Yamunanagar district, where he interacted with on-duty personnel and closely reviewed the security arrangements. SP Kamaldeep Goyal, who arrived at the spot, was directed to ensure that the efficiency and alertness of naka duties remain at the highest level at all times. The DGP also emphasized the need to improve the living environment and working conditions for police personnel posted at nakas.

He then proceeded to Saha Police Station in Ambala district, where he held an in-depth interaction with the SHO and staff for nearly 70 minutes. He reviewed case diaries, pending investigations, criminal tracking systems, and inter-station coordination in detail.

‘Man-to-Man Marking’ Strategy:

During the inspection, the DGP announced that a new “Man-to-Man Marking” strategy will be implemented to curb crime. Under this, each active criminal will be kept under continuous surveillance by a dedicated team of four to five police officers. The aim is to ensure that offenders constantly feel the presence of law enforcement and are prevented from executing criminal acts through proactive monitoring and swift intervention.

Emphasis on Information Network and Media Role:

At the Kalanaur post, DGP Singh instructed that SHOs must conduct morning field rounds daily and prepare reports on recently released or suspected habitual offenders. This intelligence, he said, should be shared with senior officers to enable coordinated action. He emphasized that the public should know police are not just reactive after crimes occur but are actively working to prevent them beforehand.

Focus on Police Station Management and Public Dealing:

At Saha Police Station, the DGP thoroughly reviewed record-keeping, seized vehicle management, visitor areas, and manpower deployment. He stressed that every citizen visiting a police station should feel comfortable and respected. To ensure this, he directed the establishment of clean visitor rooms and deployment of trained staff at all police stations across the state.

A Step Toward a New, Accountable Work Culture:

Inspector General Rakesh Kumar Arya accompanied DGP Singh during the night inspection. The visit served as both an inspiration for police personnel and a clear message that ‘Haryana Police’s top priority is ground-level presence, prompt response, and accountability.’
