Third Week of Monsoon Session : Oppostion Disrupts Lok Sabha Question Hour for SIR Discussion

New Delhi : The Monsoon session of Parliament is being continuously disrupted by the opposition this time. The first week was completely disrupted while the question hour was also disrupted in the second week and finally Operation Sindoor was discussed. The question hour is being disrupted continuously in the third week i.e. since Monday. Due to the ruckus created by the opposition, today also the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla adjourned the proceedings of the lower house till 2:00 pm. As soon as the question hour started, the opposition started demanding a discussion on the Special Incentive Revision of Voter List in Bihar while the ruling party remained adamant about not discussing it. Due to the ruckus created by the opposition, only questions related to two ministries could be asked in the Question Hour today.

Opposition MPs again did not allow the question hour to continue in the Lok Sabha today. As soon as Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla announced the start of the question hour, the opposition MPs started sloganeering in the well of the House. The opposition demanded that the question hour be postponed and statr discussion on the topic of Special Incentive Revision of Voter List in Bihar. On the other hand, the ruling party is avoiding discussing this topic in the Parliament. During the question hour, the Lok Sabha Speaker first allowed questions related to the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. An MP from Telangana asked a question related to the Agriculture Ministry and he specifically asked about the subsidy related to fertilizers.

Responding to the question raised, Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that during the tenure of the Narendra Modi government, subsidy of Rs 14 lakh 6 thousand crore has been given to farmers in various schemes so far. On the question of subsidy being given on the prices of urea fertilizer, he said that at present the price of urea is Rs 1633 per bag, whereas the government is making it available to the farmers at Rs 266 per bag. The central government is giving a subsidy of Rs 1367 per bag on urea.

During the Question Hour, the second question was asked related to the Home Department. Meanwhile, the opposition continued to create a ruckus, shouted slogans and tried to disrupt the proceedings by waving placards in front of the ministers. Questions were asked about security and connectivity related to the Home Ministry. Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, who was present in the Lok Sabha, answered questions related to his ministry.

Meanwhile, the opposition intensified the ruckus, which made it difficult to continue the proceedings. The Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla repeatedly warned the opposition MPs. The Speaker repeatedly urged all the opposition MPs to sit on their seats, but the opposition MPs stood near the well of the House and the Reporters Table and kept raising slogans. They remained adamant on their demand.

The Lok Sabha Speaker said that the opposition MPs are deliberately disrupting the proceedings of Parliament in a planned manner. Especially, they are not allowing the Question Hour to proceed. This is not in accordance with the dignity of Parliament. He told the opposition MPs that your conduct is not in accordance with parliamentary decorum. Finally, the Lok Sabha Speaker adjourned the proceedings of Parliament till 2:00 pm.
