- Awareness meeting held regarding Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana

Gurugram : Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, the last date for farmers to get their Kharif crops insured has been fixed as 31st July. In this regard, under the guidance of DC Ajay Kumar, an awareness meeting was organized by the District Agriculture Department under the chairmanship of Deputy Agriculture Director Dr. Anil Kumar, in which detailed information was given on various aspects of the scheme.
Dr. Kumar said that this year the responsibility of operating the crop insurance scheme has been handed over to HDFC Ergo General Insurance Company. Farmers can get their Kharif crops like paddy, millet, maize and cotton insured. Under the scheme, compensation is provided in case of loss due to disasters like flood, hailstorm, waterlogging, lightning, natural fire etc. He clarified that this scheme is voluntary for both loanee and non-loanee farmers. If a loanee farmer does not want to get insurance, he will have to give written information to the bank before 24th July. In case of any error in the insured crop, it is mandatory to inform the bank about the crop change by 29th July.
Giving information about the crop insurance premium amount, the Deputy Director said that ₹5435.05 per hectare has been fixed for cotton, ₹2124.98 for paddy, ₹1024.36 for millet and ₹1089.74 for maize. In the meeting, farmers were also made aware about Kisan Credit Card (KCC). Now its maximum limit has been increased to ₹5 lakh. The Deputy Agriculture Director directed all the banks to connect as many farmers as possible to the scheme.
