Gurugram : On Wednesday, Haryana Legislative Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan gave guidelines to the officials at ICAT, Manesar regarding the finalization of preparations for the country’s first National Urban Local Body Conference and talked about making the national conference memorable.
On this occasion, Shri Kalyan said that the legislature is not only a medium for making laws, but is the soul of democracy. Making local bodies more accountable will deepen the roots of democracy.
He clearly instructed the officials not to consider the preparations of the conference as just a technical or systemic aspect, but to understand the democratic and national importance of this event.
An opportunity to spread democratic consciousness
The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly also said that this conference will give a new direction to dialogue, coordination and cooperation between legislative bodies, municipal bodies and administrative units across the country. He said that our aim is not only to discuss the policy, but to take democracy to the grassroots level and ensure public participation in it. This is possible only when the legislature is aware and active.
The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, after inspecting every aspect with the concerned officials, told the officials on the eve of the National Urban Local Bodies Conference that the hospitality of the visitors should be so wonderful that they remember this national conference for years. The guests coming to the National Urban Local Bodies Conference should be given full hospitality and they should cherish the best moments with them. This is the responsibility of all of us. In this two-day national conference, there will be a comprehensive discussion on the outline of urban development on different topics.
More than 500 delegates from various states and union territories across the country are participating in the country’s first National Urban Local Bodies Conference to be held on 3rd and 4th July at ICAT, Manesar, Gurugram. Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla will be the chief guest in the inaugural session of this National Urban Local Bodies Conference being organized by the joint efforts of Lok Sabha and Haryana Legislative Assembly. Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini and Urban Local Bodies Minister Shri Vipul Goyal will be present at the national conference. Haryana Governor Hon’ble Shri Bandaru Dattatreya, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha Shri Harivansh Narayan Singh, Union Minister Shri Manohar Lal will also grace the national conference.
