Gurugram:  On the 14th day of the ongoing Swachhta Pakhwada under the instructions issued by the Urban Local Bodies Department, construction and demolition waste (C&D waste) was removed from various areas of Municipal Corporation Gurugram, Municipal Council Sohna, Pataudi-Jatauli Mandi and Municipal Council Farukhnagar.

Under this special campaign, sanitation workers cleaned debris, garbage and other solid waste from public places and made people aware about cleanliness. He urged the citizens not to throw debris or garbage at public places and become partners in keeping the city clean.

Corporation Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya said that this is not just a cleanliness campaign, but an effort to make people realize their responsibility towards cleanliness. He said, “Cleanliness of the city is not only the responsibility of the administration, but also the duty of every citizen. Management of C&D waste is an important step towards smart and sustainable urban development.”

It is noteworthy that Swachhta Pakhwada is no longer just a symbolic campaign, but it has become a platform for public awareness and participation. This initiative by the Municipal Corporation and other local bodies to remove debris and construction waste is commendable – especially when C&D waste often remains unnoticed and poses a challenge to urban beauty as well as cleanliness. Citizens will now have to become partners in cleanliness rather than just consumers of it. It is important to understand that cleanliness begins from our home, from our behavior. If we cannot keep public places clean, then it will be futile to expect permanent change from any campaign. It is necessary to maintain continuity and effectiveness in the efforts being made by Municipal Corporation Gurugram, and the dream of “Swachh Gurugram” can be realized only with the active participation of citizens.
