Chandigarh : Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij commenting on the release of water under the Indus Waters Treaty, said that “It is Pakistan’s fate to cry—whether we block the water or release it.” He emphasized that “It is our water, and it is our prerogative to use it as we see fit.”

During an interaction with media persons today, Sh.Vij criticized past Congress governments and said that “In 1960, some leaders, more sympathetic to Pakistan than to India’s interests, signed the treaty, benefiting Pakistan. However, today, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, every decision is made in India’s interest.”

It is noteworthy that following India’s decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, water flowing to Pakistan was halted, causing significant uproar there. Now, even after some water has been released, Pakistan continues to raise a hue and cry over the issue.

The exact timing and nature of the response will be decided after discussions with senior officials, but when it happens, “the world will witness Pakistan’s fate.”

Commenting on the selective targeting of Hindus in Pahalgam, Sh.Vij said that “The terrorists sought to divide Hindus and Muslims. They verified identities by checking names and even forced victims to remove clothing to ascertain their religion before shooting Hindus specifically.” Sh. Vij emphasized that “They did not attack Indians; they attacked Hindus to widen the communal gap. However, they will not succeed in their malicious intentions, he asserted.”

Responding to reports that the Jammu and Kashmir attack was pre-planned, Sh.Vij said that “Such a large-scale massacre could only happen with meticulous planning. Reports suggest that the terrorists’ handlers were guiding them using satellite phones, and cameras mounted on their helmets were used to monitor operations.” He asserted that Pakistan was closely monitoring the entire operation and reiterated, “Pakistan is the birthplace of terrorists and sooner or later, it will have to bear the consequences.”

Responding to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s statement supporting the government’s response to the terror attack, Sh. Vij welcomed the solidarity, stating that “Though we may differ on minor issues domestically, whenever the nation faces a grave threat, we unite as one.” He further mentioned that many powerful countries have also expressed their support for India, underscoring the strong international stature of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
