More Than 1356 Students Gets MR Vaccination in Lions Public School 2GURUGRAM : Lions Public school Sector 10 A Gurugram today organized an MR Vaccination Campaign with the joint association of State government doctors. Lions Club memebers , WHO and UNICEF team. This special Campaign dedicated to the school children was inaugurated jointly by Dr.Neelam Thapar, Dr. Bindu Yadav and Dr Rajesh from WHO, Dr Minakshi & Dr Rohit from UNICEF, Dr Rahul, Lion. Vijay Budhiraja from Lions Club, Rajiv kumar , Secretary, Haryana Progresive Shool and Dr. M P singh District Urban Nodal Officer of this program. This program is launched by the Govt of Haryana under the scheme guided by Govt. of India and World Health Organization and being implemented in all schools of Haryana State. On this occasion all the health specialists briefed the school children about the benefit of MR Vaccination. They assured that it has no any side effect. The experts said that in order to achieve maximum coverage during the campaign, multiple stakeholders are involved, which includes, apart from Ministry of Health & Family Welfare of the Central and State Govt both, other Ministries, development partners, Lions clubs, professional bodies like Indian Association of Pediatrics, Indian Medical Association and Civil Society Organizations too.

More Than 1356 Students Gets MR Vaccination in Lions Public School 4Addressing the gathering Lion Vijay Budhiraja, Chairman of Lions Public School appreciated the concept of the MR Vaccination Campaign. He said that this decision of the Govt. of India is meaningful as it will benefit the future generation of India. He assured all support to the MR Vaccination team. 

Lion D V Taneja Ex Chairman of the school was also present and motivated the students for this Vaccination. He said that India, along with ten other WHO South East Asia Region member countries, have resolved to eliminate measles and control rubella/congenital rubella syndrome (CRS) by 2020. In this direction, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has initiated measles-rubella (MR) vaccination campaign in the age group of 9 months to less than 15 years in a phased manner across the nation. The campaign aims to cover approximately 41 crore children. Lion Taneja also discussed about hazardous effects of Plastic use in daily life and made a humble request to Say No To Plastic for ever as well as gifted a Jute Bag to all as a symbol of encouragement. More Than 1356 Students Gets MR Vaccination in Lions Public School 5

Lion HL dang Vice Chairman of the school said taht the Measles-Rubella campaign is a part of global efforts to reduce illness and deaths due to measles and rubella/CRS in the country. Measles immunization directly contributes to the reduction of under-five child mortality, and in combination with rubella vaccine, it will control rubella and prevent CRS.

Rajiv kumar , Secretary, Haryana Progresive Shool who is also the Manager of Lions Public School Sector 10 A Gurugram said that all children in the age group of nine months to 15 years must take the Measles and Rubella vaccine being given in the ongoing campaign. He was of the opinion that even those children, who have been vaccinated for measles by their pediatrician or at health centers, should take the MR vaccine during the campaign.

More Than 1356 Students Gets MR Vaccination in Lions Public School 6Dr. Neelima Prakash Sr Principal of the school said that the vaccine is safe. It has been seen that vaccinated children were also getting the disease, therefore, the additional dose during the campaign implies additional protection to the children. Measles is a major childhood killer disease and rubella leads to lifelong birth defects. Both diseases have no cure, but can be prevented by taking the MR vaccine. It is important for children to take the vaccine both in routine immunization and in campaigns too .
