G.D Goenka is to host “Global Antitrust & Competition Law Moot Court Competition”

GURUGRAM : After hosting the triumphant CI Arb International Commercial Arbitration Competition, 2017, G.D Goenka University is all set to host the “3rd Global Antitrust & Competition Law Moot Court Competition” from the 23rd to25th March, 2018.

G.D Goenka University has a starling reputation and has had the privilege to host several legal luminaries of high profile in the prior moot court competition and takes immense pride in announcing that the coming Global Antitrust& Competition Law Moot Court Competition will be hosting even more distinguished guests in the legal spectrum adorning the sessions.

The moot proposition so drafted is based on an issue revolving around Competition Law that is an upcoming arena in the legal field. Competition law is a law that promotes or seeks to maintain market competition by regulating anti-competitive conduct by companies. Competition is a process of economic rivalry between market players to attract customers. In the interest of consumers, and the economy as whole, it is necessary to promote an environment that facilitates fair competition outcomes in the market, restrain anti-competitive behaviour and discourage market players from adopting unfair trade practices. Free and fair competition is one of the pillars of an efficient business environment.

School of Law, G.D Goenka University is the only law school in the country to host an event on both anti-trust and competition laws. This competition strives to provide a platform tothelaw students to imbibe the pragmatics kills of anti- trust and competition law and this moot court is one such attempt to createa simulated atmosphere for future lawyers.In India, not many lawyers are practicing in the field of Competition Law. This competition aims at equipping and enabling the future lawyers of our country to take up practice in the field of Competition Law. A total of 24 teams from all around the Nation have registered themselves to be a part of this one of its kind Moot Court Competition. The objective is to allow the law students to delve into intersections of Competition Law.

Ltd.]; Mr. Matthew Slone [ Director, Global Litigation Services- India UnitedLex];, Dr. Subir Bikas Mitra [ Executive Director(Law & HR) GAIL(India) Ltd.; and Mr. Ganesh Chandru [Executive Partner, Laxmikumaran & Sridharan Attorneys] would be the hon’ble guests for the inaugural and the valedictory sessions.
