Bhopal/Indore: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has written to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, urging the state government to address the pending appointments of selected candidates from the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category.

The issue was raised during Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ programme in Indore, where OBC students and job aspirants said that although the selection process had been completed, appointments against 13% of posts covered under the 27% OBC reservation have remained pending for several years. Reports from the programme also noted that recruitment delays and the withholding of a portion of OBC-reserved posts were among the concerns raised by candidates.

In his letter, Gandhi said that candidates who have been waiting for more than four years should not face further delays and called for their concerns to be addressed.

He urged the Madhya Pradesh government to consider the students’ demands and take steps regarding implementation of the 27% OBC reservation and appointments of eligible selected candidates.

The issue is linked to ongoing legal proceedings concerning OBC reservation in Madhya Pradesh, with several related cases involving the implementation of 27% OBC reservation currently before the courts. (api.sci.gov.in)
