New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu addressed and interacted with Delhi Police officers at Police Headquarters (PHQ), reviewing on-ground policing outcomes and discussing measures to further strengthen citizen-centric policing in the national capital.
During the interaction, the LG emphasised that the safety of women and children must remain a priority. He directed Delhi Police to establish a dedicated ‘Pink Force’, comprising trained women patrol units to provide a visible and responsive security presence.
The proposed women-led patrol units will be deployed at schools, colleges, Metro stations and other vulnerable hotspots to enhance safety and accessibility of policing.
The LG also called for making policing more accessible, responsive and citizen-focused, stressing that every resident should feel safe, heard and protected.
He directed Delhi Police to keep public safety at the centre of every beat, response and policing action, with greater emphasis on visible presence and prompt response to citizens’ concerns.
