Canada’s International Trade Minister Maninder Sidhu meets Piyush Goyal to advance negotiations and expand opportunities for businesses and workers
New Delhi: Canada’s Minister of International Trade, Maninder Sidhu, is in India with a team of more than 50 negotiators to advance negotiations on the proposed Canada–India trade agreement.
As the two countries work through the fourth round of negotiations, Sidhu met Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal to review progress and maintain momentum towards an ambitious trade agreement.
Sidhu said direct, face-to-face engagement remains important for advancing the shared objectives of both countries. He noted that continued discussions between the two sides would help build on the progress achieved during the ongoing negotiations.
The Canadian Minister said he and Piyush Goyal remain committed to working together to unlock new opportunities for workers and businesses in both Canada and India.
The latest round of talks comes as New Delhi and Ottawa seek to deepen bilateral economic engagement and establish a framework that can facilitate greater trade and business opportunities between the two countries.
