New Delhi: President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where the two leaders discussed the longstanding friendship and close ties between India and Iran.

During the meeting, President Murmu highlighted the deep-rooted relationship between the two countries, particularly their strong cultural connections and people-to-people ties. India and Iran share centuries-old civilisational links, with cultural exchanges continuing to form an important pillar of bilateral relations.

The discussions also underlined the importance of maintaining and further strengthening bilateral engagement across areas of mutual interest. The two sides reaffirmed the significance of dialogue, mutual understanding and cooperation in advancing shared interests.

President Murmu reiterated India’s commitment to pursuing enduring peace through dialogue and diplomacy, underscoring New Delhi’s consistent support for peaceful resolution of differences and greater regional stability.

The meeting comes as India and Iran continue to engage closely on economic, connectivity, cultural and regional issues, with both countries maintaining their longstanding diplomatic partnership.
