New Delhi : Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu met DDA Vice Chairman N. Saravana Kumar at Lok Niwas today to review options for providing alternative accommodation to students.

The LG directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to expedite the identification of suitable land parcels for developing paying guest (PG) accommodation, prepare an actionable plan and engage with university officials on provisions under the new Master Plan for developing hostel facilities.

The move comes amid growing concerns over the availability and safety of student accommodation in Delhi. The administration is also examining alternative accommodation options through universities, the MCD and DDA, including the possible utilisation of unoccupied DDA housing stock. (Akashvani News)
