New Delhi: Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu presented the Legends of India Lifetime Achievement Awards 2026 at the India International Centre (IIC) on Saturday, honouring eminent personalities who have made significant contributions to India’s classical arts and cultural heritage.
The awards recognised distinguished artists from diverse fields, including Bharatanatyam, Hindustani and Carnatic classical music, theatre and sculpture, celebrating them as torchbearers of India’s rich civilisational heritage.
Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sandhu said, “Culture is a sublime expression of a people, and the foundations of a society.”
He said the lifetime of discipline, dedication and perseverance demonstrated by the awardees serves as a reminder that artistic excellence is built through patience, perseverance and devotion.
