New delhi/Dras, Ladakh: A delegation from NITI Aayog, led by Vice Chairperson Dr. Ashok K. Lahiri, visited the Kargil War Memorial in Dras and Post 43 along the Line of Control (LoC), gaining first-hand insights into the challenges faced by the Armed Forces in the region.
At the Kargil War Memorial, Dr. Lahiri and senior NITI Aayog officials were briefed on Operation Vijay and the extraordinary courage displayed by Indian soldiers during the Kargil War. Dr. Lahiri laid a wreath at the memorial, paying solemn tribute to the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.
The delegation subsequently visited Post 43 along the LoC, where Dr. Lahiri interacted with troops deployed in the forward area. He heard about their experiences and gained an understanding of the demanding conditions in which they perform their duties while maintaining constant vigilance along the nation’s frontiers.
The interaction also provided an opportunity to acknowledge the courage, resilience and unwavering commitment of personnel serving in one of the country’s most challenging operational environments.
The visit served as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by India’s Armed Forces and the determination with which its personnel continue to protect the country’s territorial integrity.
