New Delhi : Samajwadi Party President and Kannauj MP Akhilesh Yadav has levelled serious allegations over an alleged gold-smuggling case that reportedly came to light following an accident involving a police vehicle in Kannauj.
Sharing a video on social media platform X, Yadav alleged that while 26 gold biscuits, each weighing one kilogram, were reportedly recovered from a vehicle after the accident, only 10 kilograms were displayed publicly. He used the phrase, “Ten were shown, sixteen were swallowed,” to question the alleged discrepancy.
According to Yadav’s allegations, the occupants of the vehicle attempted to flee after the collision, following which they were chased and apprehended by the police. He claimed that 26 one-kilogram gold biscuits were allegedly recovered during the subsequent search.

The Samajwadi Party chief further alleged that the authorities could manipulate the official record of the seizure and expressed concern over what he described as a possible attempt to replace the recovered gold with other metal. These are allegations made by Yadav and would require verification through the official police investigation and seizure records.
Targeting the BJP government, Yadav also alleged the existence of a wider smuggling network operating along a route stretching from Nepal to Gorakhpur and onwards to Delhi, describing it as an example of what he called the “double engine’s double deception.”
The recent search results available to us did not independently verify Yadav’s specific claims regarding the alleged recovery of 26 kg of gold or the alleged discrepancy in the quantity displayed.
