Committee headed by former Deputy National Security Adviser and Interlocutor Pankaj Kumar Singh
New Delhi : Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has constituted a high-level committee to prepare a comprehensive framework for a permanent political solution to issues concerning the Gorkha community within the framework of the Constitution of India.
The committee will be headed by former Deputy National Security Adviser and Interlocutor Pankaj Kumar Singh, who will lead efforts to examine the long-pending issues and formulate an appropriate framework for their resolution.
Describing the move as a significant development, Shah said the constitution of the committee marks a major and long-awaited breakthrough towards addressing the critical pending issues concerning the Gorkhas.
The initiative is aimed at finding a sustainable political solution while ensuring that the proposed framework remains within the constitutional framework of the country.
The announcement is expected to provide fresh momentum to efforts aimed at resolving longstanding Gorkha-related issues through a structured and institutional mechanism.
