38 journalists from 11 countries were briefed on India’s disaster-response operations and showcased advanced humanitarian assistance equipment
New Delhi, August 22: A 38-member foreign media delegation representing 11 countries visited the Shatrujeet Brigade to witness the Indian Army’s advanced capabilities in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations.
During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the Indian Army’s HADR missions conducted in friendly foreign countries, including the recently undertaken Operation Amistad and Operation SagarBandhu. The briefing highlighted India’s growing role in extending rapid, coordinated and compassionate assistance to nations affected by natural and other disasters.
The visiting journalists were also given an opportunity to observe a range of specialised HADR equipment deployed by the Indian Army. These included the BHISHM Cube, high-mobility All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs), advanced communication systems and specialised field equipment designed to support operations in challenging environments.
The delegation was briefed on the Army’s ability to rapidly mobilise and deploy its resources, including airborne capabilities and self-sustaining medical facilities, to areas affected by disasters.
The visit provided the foreign media representatives with an insight into the Indian Army’s preparedness to undertake swift, life-saving and sustained humanitarian operations, both within India and in support of friendly countries during times of crisis.
