New Delhi : Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal met South Africa’s Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition, Parks Tau, on the sidelines of the BRICS 2026 Trade Ministers’ Meeting to discuss ways to deepen bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
During the meeting, the two ministers discussed the signing of the Terms of Reference (ToRs) for the India–Southern African Customs Union (SACU) Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) and emphasized the need for the early conclusion of negotiations.
The discussions also focused on strengthening India–South Africa trade engagement and exploring new opportunities for collaboration in key sectors, including critical minerals, pharmaceuticals and manufacturing.
The meeting reflects the growing economic partnership between India and South Africa and the shared commitment of both countries to expand trade, investment and strategic cooperation through the BRICS framework.
