Gurugram : Amid continuous rainfall, Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya conducted an extensive inspection of the city’s drainage infrastructure and waterlogging-prone locations along with senior officials. He directed officials to ensure that no area faces waterlogging during the monsoon and instructed them to maintain round-the-clock monitoring of drainage arrangements.
Sector-10 Residents Welcome Permanent Solution to Waterlogging
During the inspection, the Commissioner visited Alpine School Road in Sector-10, where local residents informed him that the road had suffered severe waterlogging every monsoon in previous years, disrupting traffic and daily life. They said that after the drainage improvement works carried out by the Municipal Corporation this year, the problem has been effectively resolved. Residents appreciated the Corporation’s efforts and thanked Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya and the entire MCG team for providing a permanent solution.
The Commissioner also inspected Sector-10, Badshahpur Drain, Behrampur Road and several adjoining areas. Behrampur Road, which had previously witnessed significant waterlogging during rains, remained clear, reflecting the positive impact of the drainage improvement works undertaken by the Corporation.
The inspection was attended by Additional Municipal Commissioner Ravindra Yadav, Chief Engineer Vijay Dhaka, Executive Engineer Pradeep Kumar, Assistant Engineer Wasim Akram, and other officials.
Rainwater Harvesting Systems Prove Effective
The Commissioner reviewed the functioning of Rainwater Harvesting Systems installed across the city and noted that they have played a significant role in both preventing waterlogging and conserving rainwater.
The systems installed at I-Block, South City-2, Swagat Park, Sector-4, Government School, Shivaji Nagar, and other locations have been functioning efficiently, enabling effective rainwater collection, reducing surface water accumulation, and promoting groundwater recharge.
Commissioner Dahiya directed officials to ensure the regular maintenance and monitoring of all rainwater harvesting systems so that citizens and the environment continue to benefit from them during every monsoon.
Focus on Long-Term Monsoon Management
Emphasising the Corporation’s long-term strategy, the Commissioner said that MCG is implementing a planned approach to permanently address waterlogging by strengthening the drainage network, regularly monitoring vulnerable locations, deploying pumping systems, and integrating rainwater harvesting technologies.
He instructed officials to keep continuous surveillance on all vulnerable locations and immediately deploy machinery and manpower wherever required to prevent inconvenience to residents.
Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya said the Corporation’s objective is not merely to drain rainwater during the monsoon but to develop permanent solutions to the city’s waterlogging challenges. He added that the positive results of drainage improvement works and rainwater harvesting systems are now visible on the ground and reaffirmed MCG’s commitment to building a safer, more sustainable and future-ready Gurugram, with public trust and cooperation remaining its greatest strength.
