New Delhi : Members of the Opposition on Tuesday staged a protest in the Parliament premises, raising slogans over allegations related to Ram Temple donations and the recent lathi-charge on students.
During the protest, Opposition MPs alleged that there had been an “offering theft” (Ram Temple donation controversy) and accused the government of remaining silent on the issue. They also criticised the police action against students, describing it as excessive.
The protesting MPs raised slogans demanding the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Parliament, chanting, “Amit Shah, come to the House, come to the House and respond.”
Opposition leaders claimed that the demand for the Home Minister to make a statement was not limited to political parties but reflected broader public concerns. They asserted that the government should respond to questions surrounding the alleged Ram Temple donation controversy as well as the police action against students.
The Opposition further alleged that the Modi government could not evade responsibility and should address the issues on the floor of Parliament. They urged both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to explain the government’s position before the House.
The government had not immediately responded to the Opposition’s allegations at the time of filing this report.
