Gurugram : Haryana State Commission for Women Chairperson Usha Priyadarshi on Tuesday heard 15 complaints related to domestic violence, crimes against women, workplace sexual harassment, and other issues during a grievance redressal session held at the Conference Hall of the Gurugram Police Commissioner’s Office.
After reviewing each case in detail, the Chairperson directed the police and concerned departments to ensure time-bound, impartial, and effective disposal of all complaints, with a focus on providing timely justice to the victims.
Domestic Violence Case: Directions on Child Maintenance
During the hearing, a woman from Sohna Tehsil alleged that her husband had extramarital affairs with multiple women and had assaulted her despite repeated community-led reconciliation efforts. She informed the Commission that the couple has been married for four years and has two children.
Taking note of the complaint, Usha Priyadarshi observed that the woman’s husband reportedly earns ₹50,000 per month and directed that he ensure monthly financial support of ₹25,000 for the maintenance of his wife and children. She also instructed the concerned authorities to initiate necessary action to safeguard the complainant’s rightful claim in the family property.
Rape Allegation Against Brother-in-Law
In another case, a woman accused her brother-in-law of rape. The complainant stated that her husband is currently residing in Dubai.
Police officials informed the Commission that an FIR has been registered against the accused and an arrest warrant has already been issued.
The Chairperson scheduled the next hearing for August 7 at 12 noon at the Haryana State Commission for Women office in Panchkula and directed the investigating agency not to file the charge sheet until the investigation is completed.
Recovery of Loan Amount
The Commission also heard a complaint involving a financial dispute in which a woman alleged that she had lent ₹1 lakh to a resident of West Bengal in October 2025. She claimed that when she demanded repayment, the borrower assaulted her.
Police informed the Commission that the accused had already repaid ₹66,000 and had assured that the remaining ₹34,000 would be returned within two months.
Usha Priyadarshi directed the authorities to ensure that the complainant receives the remaining amount without unnecessary delay.
Workplace Harassment Complaint
In a separate case related to workplace harassment, a woman alleged that after the transfer of her company’s HR Head, the officer to whom she was assigned subjected her to mental and sexual harassment. She further alleged that after raising the issue, she was pressured to resign from her job.
Expressing serious concern over the allegations, the Commission Chairperson directed the concerned parties to appear before the Commission in Panchkula on August 6 for the next hearing.

The Haryana State Commission for Women reiterated its commitment to ensuring prompt action and justice in cases involving crimes against women and directed all concerned authorities to handle such complaints with sensitivity and urgency.
