New Delhi/Athens : Two firefighting helicopters collided while battling a massive wildfire near Psatha in Greece’s Attica region, killing two crew members, according to international media reports.
The helicopters were assisting firefighting operations as authorities worked to contain the blaze, which has destroyed more than 100 homes northwest of Athens.
According to the reports, two people—a Greek national and a Danish national—lost their lives in the collision, while two others survived the crash.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the mid-air collision.
The wildfire has caused extensive damage in the affected areas, with emergency services continuing efforts to bring the blaze under control.
