Chandigarh : Haryana Labour Minister Anil Vij announced that the Deputy Labour Commissioner’s office, currently located in Panchkula, will be shifted to the SDM Office Complex in Ambala Cantonment, following approval by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.
The Labour Minister said the decision has been taken to enhance convenience for workers, industries and the general public by bringing Labour Department services closer to stakeholders.
Major Relief for Workers in Four Districts
Anil Vij said the relocation will provide significant relief to workers and industrial establishments in Ambala, Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar and Panchkula.
He noted that the Saha Industrial Area, Science Industry area in Ambala Cantonment, and several other industrial clusters in Ambala district house a large number of industries employing thousands of workers. Until now, workers had to travel to the Deputy Labour Commissioner’s office in Panchkula for labour-related grievances, complaints and departmental services, resulting in unnecessary expenditure of time and money.
Ambala More Centrally Located
The Labour Minister explained that the jurisdiction of the Deputy Labour Commissioner, Panchkula presently includes the offices of the Assistant Labour Commissioners of Ambala, Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar and Panchkula.
He said Kurukshetra and Yamunanagar are located much farther from Panchkula, whereas Ambala is geographically more central and conveniently located for all four districts. At the same time, Panchkula is also situated at a relatively short distance from Ambala.
According to Vij, shifting the office to Ambala Cantonment will make administrative services more accessible for workers, industry representatives and other stakeholders across the four districts.
Faster Labour Services and Dispute Resolution
The Labour Minister said the decision will particularly benefit workers and industrial management in Ambala’s industrial areas by eliminating the need to travel long distances for official work.
He added that the relocation is expected to improve the speed and transparency in the settlement of labour disputes, implementation of labour laws and delivery of departmental services.
No Additional Financial Burden
Anil Vij clarified that the Deputy Labour Commissioner’s office is already an approved and established government office. Therefore, shifting it from Panchkula to Ambala Cantonment will neither require the creation of new posts nor impose any additional financial burden on the state government.
He reiterated that the Haryana Government has prioritised the convenience of workers while taking the decision, ensuring better public service delivery without incurring additional expenditure.
