Gurugram : Electricity supply to Suncity-76 Society in Sector-76, Gurugram, was disrupted on Sunday due to a technical fault in the society’s internal electrical system, while the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) confirmed that its external power supply network remained fully operational. Power supply was restored at around 10:00 pm after the society management rectified the internal fault.

Following directions from DHBVN Managing Director Vikram Singh, IAS, Superintending Engineer Shyambir Saini reviewed the matter and clarified that the society receives electricity through a 33 kV switching station developed by the society, which is supplied from the 220 kV Sector-72 substation.

He said that at around 1:30 pm on Sunday, a technical fault developed in the society’s Low Tension (LT) panel, causing the concerned feeder to trip. As a safety measure, power supply from the 33 kV switching station was temporarily suspended.

Subsequently, the transformers installed within the society premises were re-energised. However, after the LT load was restored, the transformers tripped again within 15 to 20 minutes, resulting in a continued power outage.

According to Shyambir Saini, an inspection carried out by the society’s authorised technical agency confirmed an internal fault in the LT panel. After the necessary repairs were completed and the defect was rectified, electricity supply was successfully restored at approximately 10:00 pm.

The Superintending Engineer emphasised that the disruption was caused entirely by the society’s internal electrical infrastructure, while DHBVN’s external distribution system functioned normally throughout the incident.

He also pointed out that Suncity-76 is an affordable housing society and does not have diesel generator (DG) backup facilities.

Appealing to all group housing societies, Shyambir Saini urged managements to ensure regular inspection, preventive maintenance and timely servicing of their internal electrical networks, LT panels, transformers and other electrical equipment to provide residents with uninterrupted, safe and reliable power supply.
