New Delhi: Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin are expected to participate in the 18th BRICS Summit, which will be hosted by India in New Delhi next month, according to diplomatic sources and media reports as inetrnational media rteported .
According to media reports the summit is expected to bring together leaders of the expanded BRICS grouping to deliberate on key global and regional issues, including economic cooperation, trade, sustainable development, multilateral reforms, climate action and the interests of the Global South.
Russia has already indicated that President Vladimir Putin is expected to attend the summit following an invitation from India. Meanwhile, President Xi Jinping’s participation is also considered likely, although Beijing has not yet made an official announcement.
If President Xi attends, it would mark his first visit to India since 2019, making the summit particularly significant in the context of recent diplomatic engagement between the two neighbouring countries.
The high-profile gathering is also expected to provide opportunities for bilateral meetings on the sidelines, with leaders holding discussions on strengthening cooperation and addressing regional and international challenges.
As the current Chair of BRICS, India is preparing to host one of its most significant multilateral events of the year, with the participation of several world leaders expected to reinforce the grouping’s growing role in shaping global economic and strategic dialogue.
Note: While Russian President Vladimir Putin’s participation has been indicated by Moscow, China’s official confirmation regarding President Xi Jinping’s visit is still awaited.
