PM Narendra Modi Speaks with UK Prime Minister, Discusses Strengthening India–UK Strategic Partnership

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Andy Burnham congratulating him on assuming office and conveying his best wishes for a successful tenure.

Sharing details of the conversation on social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi said the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the India–UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership by expanding cooperation across a wide range of sectors.

The Prime Minister said both sides agreed to work closely in areas including technology, innovation, defence, security, clean energy, education, and people-to-people exchanges, with the aim of taking bilateral relations to new heights.

“We agreed to work together across sectors such as technology, innovation, defence, security, clean energy, education and people-to-people ties and take the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to new heights,” Prime Minister Modi said.

The two leaders also discussed ways to deepen economic engagement following the operationalisation of the India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).

Prime Minister Modi said both countries would work together to fully harness the trade and investment opportunities created by the agreement, with the objective of promoting shared prosperity and improving the well-being of the people of both nations.

“We will also collaborate closely to fully harness the trade and investment opportunities presented by the recently operationalised India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement, for the shared prosperity and well-being of both our people,” the Prime Minister said.

The conversation reaffirmed the commitment of India and the United Kingdom to further expand cooperation across strategic, economic, technological, and people-centric sectors while strengthening their long-standing bilateral partnership.
