New Delhi : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sudhanshu Trivedi on Saturday accused Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi of avoiding a parliamentary discussion on the examination paper leak issue while making statements outside Parliament.
Addressing a press conference, Trivedi said senior BJP leaders, including Union Ministers J.P. Nadda and Dr. Jitendra Singh, have been in continuous dialogue with the protesting students. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to establish fast-track courts to ensure speedy trials in paper leak cases, and Parliament has also passed a stringent law providing for strict punitive action against those involved in examination paper leaks.
He further stated that Union Ministers J.P. Nadda and Dr. Jitendra Singh are scheduled to hold another round of talks with the protesting students.
Criticising Rahul Gandhi, Trivedi alleged that the Congress leader has been visiting different locations across Delhi to make public statements instead of participating in a debate in Parliament. He questioned why Gandhi was avoiding discussion in what he described as the constitutional forum meant for resolving such issues.
According to Trivedi, while Rahul Gandhi has been making what he termed “provocative statements” at various locations, he has refrained from debating the matter in Parliament. He alleged that this indicates the Opposition’s objective is not to find a solution to the examination crisis but to create disorder and confrontation.
