Helsinki : Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal held a productive meeting with Nokia Corporation President and CEO Justin Hotard and the company’s senior leadership in Helsinki, Finland, focusing on strengthening India-Finland cooperation in the technology and telecom sectors.
During the interaction, discussions centred on expanding Nokia’s manufacturing presence in India, increasing exports from its India-based facilities, and encouraging greater investment in research and development (R&D) activities within the country.
The Union Minister highlighted India’s growing capabilities in engineering, innovation, and telecommunications, and invited Nokia to further leverage the country’s vast talent pool, expanding telecom market, and the ‘Make in India’ initiative to enhance its global operations.
The meeting also placed special emphasis on key areas such as telecom network security, trusted digital infrastructure, and building resilient supply chains to support the evolving needs of the global technology ecosystem.
Piyush Goyal said that deeper collaboration between Indian and Finnish companies can further strengthen the innovation partnership between the two nations and create new opportunities in advanced communication technologies.
Nokia’s increased engagement with India aligns with the country’s vision of becoming a global manufacturing and technology hub while promoting secure and reliable telecom networks.
