Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh Meets Japanese Defence Minister Shinjiro Koizumi

New Delhi /Tokyo, Japan: Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh held a meeting with Japan’s Minister of Defence Shinjiro Koizumi in Tokyo on 13 July 2026, reaffirming the growing momentum of the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership.

During the meeting, both sides held comprehensive and productive discussions on key issues of mutual interest, including regional security, maritime cooperation, defence industrial collaboration, and ways to further strengthen bilateral defence engagement.

The discussions also built upon the outcomes of Japanese Prime Minister Ms. Sanae Takaichi’s recent visit to India, reflecting the continued progress in the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Both leaders highlighted the importance of working together to promote a free, open, secure and rules-based Indo-Pacific region and exchanged views on enhancing cooperation to address emerging regional security challenges.

The meeting underscored the shared commitment of India and Japan to further elevate their defence partnership, deepen strategic cooperation, and expand collaboration in areas of common interest.
