New Delhi : Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said he was delighted to witness the live demonstration of the Eurobank–NIPL partnership enabling Unified Payments Interface (UPI) services at the Eurobank headquarters in Athens, alongside Eurobank CEO Fokion Karavias and Fairfax Digital Services CEO Sanjay Tugnait. He described the development as a significant milestone in the global expansion of India’s digital payments ecosystem.
With the launch of UPI services in Greece, eligible users will now be able to carry out instant, secure, and seamless money transfers, significantly reducing transaction costs compared to traditional international payment systems.
Goyal said the growing international acceptance of UPI reflects strong confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of technology-driven solutions that deliver value beyond national borders. He added that such initiatives are helping deepen global partnerships and promote shared growth and prosperity.
