New Delhi : Communist Party of China (CPC) General Secretary Xi Jinping met with KMT Chairwoman Cheng Li-wun in a high-level engagement marking the first such interaction between the two sides in a decade.
Acvording to the statement of Mao Ning Spokesperson of Ministry of China shared through social media ‘X’, President Xi Jinping described the meeting as significant for the development of relations between the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Kuomintang (KMT), as well as for cross-Strait relations more broadly. He stated that despite changes in the international environment and the situation across the Taiwan Strait, the broader trajectory toward national rejuvenation remains unchanged, as does what he described as the momentum for greater engagement among people on both sides.
Spokesperson Ning stated that Di Jinping expressed readiness to work with the KMT and other political parties, groups, and communities in Taiwan based on the “1992 Consensus” and opposition to “Taiwan independence,” emphasizing expanded dialogue and exchanges aimed at maintaining peace and improving well-being across the Strait.
Xi further underscored that the future of cross-Strait relations should remain in the hands of the people on both sides.
Spokesperson Mao Ning shared that General Secretary Xi made four points about the development of cross-Strait relations.
