New Delhi : The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on Sunday reassured citizens that LPG supplies across India remain stable, with no shortages reported by any distributor. On April 4 alone, more than 5.1 million LPG cylinders were delivered nationwide, reflecting a strong and uninterrupted supply chain.
Highlighting a shift toward digital convenience, the Ministry noted that nearly 95% of LPG bookings are now being made online. Efforts to enhance transparency have also shown results, with Delivery Authentication Code (DAC)-based deliveries rising sharply to 90%, compared to just 53% in February—before tensions escalated in the Middle East.
Consumers have been encouraged to rely on digital platforms for LPG bookings and avoid visiting distributor offices unless absolutely necessary.
The Ministry further shared that around 90,000 small 5-kg LPG cylinders were sold on Saturday, while cumulative sales of these cylinders have reached approximately 660,000 since March 23. Adequate stock of these smaller cylinders is available with distributors and can be obtained by presenting valid identification.
In parallel, the government is pushing the adoption of Piped Natural Gas (PNG). Since March, over 390,000 new PNG connections have been registered, with supply already activated for around 360,000 households. States have been advised to expedite the rollout of PNG connections for both residential and commercial users.
Reassuring the public on overall fuel availability, the Ministry confirmed that all refineries are functioning at full capacity, with sufficient crude oil reserves in place. Stocks of petrol and diesel are also reported to be adequate.
To meet growing domestic demand, LPG production at refineries has been further increased, ensuring consistent supply across the country.
