Tumakuru : Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday attended the 119th birth anniversary celebrations and Guruvandana Mahotsava of Sree Sivakumara Swamiji at Sree Siddaganga Math in Tumakuru.
Addressing the gathering, the President said that saints like Sree Sivakumara Swamiji represent the very essence of India’s spiritual and social fabric. She noted that although the revered seer attained samadhi in 2019, his spiritual legacy continues to guide and uplift society. His lifelong commitment to serving the poor and underprivileged, she said, remains a shining example of spirituality expressed through welfare and humanitarian work.
The President lauded Sree Siddaganga Math for carrying forward Swamiji’s legacy, highlighting its significant contributions in the field of education—from primary schooling to higher education in engineering and management. She also appreciated the healthcare services provided by the Siddha-Ganga Hospital, established under the Swamiji’s guidance.
Emphasising the importance of education, President Murmu said that knowledge forms the foundation of personality development, character building, and self-reliance. By educating students from marginalized and rural backgrounds, the Math is playing a crucial role in building an inclusive society, she added.
She further underlined that spirituality forms the bedrock of public service and national service. Praising Karnataka, she said the state exemplifies a harmonious blend of spirituality, service, and modern progress, with its people consistently contributing to nation-building.
The President concluded by stating that true tribute to Sree Sivakumara Swamiji lies in following the path of service, philanthropy, and unwavering dedication to duty.
