New Delhi : In view of the evolving situation in the Middle East and its possible impact on international aviation, the Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu conducted a comprehensive review of preparedness and response measures with all concerned stakeholders.

A high-level meeting was held via video conference with senior officials of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the Airports Authority of India, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, along with airline operators and major airport authorities across the country. The discussions focused on ensuring passenger safety, maintaining operational continuity and strengthening real-time coordination in light of multiple airspace restrictions and Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) issued in parts of the region.

Indian airlines operating international flights have been advised to closely monitor airspace advisories, NOTAMs and route restrictions issued by relevant authorities. They have also been directed to undertake timely rerouting or diversion of flights, whenever necessary, in accordance with global safety protocols and established contingency procedures.

Airports across India, especially major international gateways, have been placed on operational alert to handle possible flight diversions, unscheduled landings and passenger facilitation requirements. Airport operators have been asked to maintain close coordination with airlines to ensure adequate ground handling arrangements, parking bays, passenger services, crew logistics and immigration support.

The aviation regulator has also been instructed to remain in constant coordination with airlines to ensure compliance with safety regulations, crew duty time limits and operational advisories. Continuous monitoring mechanisms are being activated to track the evolving airspace situation and prevent disruptions to domestic schedules.

The ministry is also coordinating closely with the Ministry of External Affairs to ensure smooth information flow and prompt action if any situation arises involving Indian carriers or citizens abroad.

Passengers have been advised to remain in contact with their respective airlines for updates on travel schedules. Airlines have been directed to keep passengers informed about delays, rerouting or diversions to minimise inconvenience.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation emphasised that the safety of passengers and crew remains the top priority and said the situation is being closely monitored, with further updates to be issued as required.
