Strict Instructions Issued on Employee Safety, Dignity, and Welfare ; Adherence to Standards Mandated

Gurugram :  Prioritizing the safety, dignity, and welfare of employees, Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya has issued strict instructions that all work related to sewers and sewerage systems must be carried out in accordance with prescribed safety standards. He clarified that under no circumstances will work be conducted that jeopardizes human life, and all work will be completed through proper procedures.

The issued guidelines state that the maximum use of machines and modern equipment should be ensured during the cleaning of sewers and septic tanks. Manual entry has been completely prohibited and may only be permitted in extremely necessary circumstances, under strict adherence to established safety protocols. In such cases, the use of gas detectors, oxygen support systems, safety harnesses, helmets, gloves, and other protective equipment has been made mandatory.

The orders also state that employees must be provided with regular training so that they are aware of how to handle emergencies, identify toxic gases, and correctly use safety equipment. Providing first-aid facilities and emergency rescue arrangements at the workplace has also been made mandatory.

The instructions clearly state that the concerned agencies and contractors must ensure the social security, insurance coverage, regular health check-ups, and a dignified working environment for the employees. Strict action will be taken against any agency found to be negligent or in violation of the rules.

The Municipal Commissioner informed that the Gurugram Municipal Corporation regularly organizes training programs for sewer workers. He further informed that a special training program will be organized on Friday, January 30th. The objective of this training is to educate employees on safe working practices, the correct use of equipment, and methods for handling emergency situations. The Municipal Corporation has provided sewer workers with safety equipment, jackets, and other necessary protective gear. It is being ensured that no employee performs risky tasks without safety equipment. All these measures are aimed at ensuring the safety of sanitation workers and protecting their dignity. Such training and safety measures will continue to be implemented in the future as well.
