Sand artist Madhurendra’s creation of a supernatural sculpture of Lord Bhaskar on sand became the biggest attraction of the Chhath festival

Patna : The four-day long Chhath festival, a grand festival of folk faith, concluded on Tuesday with the offering of prayers to the rising sun across Bihar. Meanwhile, at Kangan Ghat in Patna, the sand art of renowned international sand artist Madhurendra Kumar captivated all Chhath devotees. After two days of tireless work, sand artist Madhurendra created a 10-foot-tall sculpture of Lord Bhaskar riding seven horses using 15 tons of sand from the Ganges on Monday evening. This artwork became a major attraction among Chhath devotees at the Patna Ganga Ghat. People were also seen taking selfies with Lord Bhaskar on their mobile phones and sharing them on their social media accounts. These images went viral.

It should be noted that in 2024, on the occasion of the great Chhath festival, international sand artist Madhurendra Kumar paid tribute to Bihar’s Nightingale Sharda Sinha, who has spread the faith in Chhath Puja throughout the world with her melodious Chhath songs, by creating a portrait of her at Patna’s Kangan Ghat. This artwork moved all Chhath devotees and garnered considerable attention.

It is noteworthy that sand artist Madhurendra’s sand art has now become a hallmark not only of Bihar but of the entire country. Sand artist Madhurendra is known for his excellent sand art displaying events and burning issues happening across the country and the world and conveying positive messages to society.

Thousands of Chhath devotees and devotees present at the Chhath Ghat praised and blessed the artwork of Lord Surya created by sand artist Madhurendra.
