New Delhi : With a view to include the last person in the country under Financial Inclusion schemes, FI saturation camps are being organized at the Gram Panchayat level for re-KYC and Jan Suraksha Schemes from July 1, 2025 to September 30, 2025 by all the banks. These camps are also being organized in 3339 Gram Panchayats of West Bengal. Banks are actively engaged in the campaign for saturation of Financial Inclusion (FI) Schemes and re-KYC of bank accounts. The camps are also being conducted to create awareness among the general public about unclaimed deposits and also about the grievance redressal mechanisms. The camp was organized yesterday in Jalpaiguri District of West Bengal at the Gram Panchayat level in Khagrabari-II (Maynaguri block) and Majhiali (Rajganj block). Shri Sudhanshu Prasad, Regional Director, Reserve Bank of India, Kolkata, Shri Balbir Singh, GM, SLBC Convener and the Zonal/Regional heads of other banks were present in this camp.

On this occasion, Shri Sudhanshu Prasad, Regional Director, RBI, Kolkata emphasised that re-KYC is vital to keep accounts active and avoid delays in receiving grants or subsidies from the Central and State Governments. Banks must update KYC records every two years for high-risk, eight years for medium-risk, and ten years for low-risk customers. If there is no change in the KYC details and even in case of change in address only, low-risk customers can simply submit a self-declaration and complete re-KYC through email, internet banking, mobile banking, Aadhaar OTP, or by visiting the branch. Documents such as passport, driving licence, Aadhaar card, or Voter ID, etc. can be used for re-KYC. He further apprised the participants of the unclaimed deposits remaining in bank accounts for over ten years and urged them to utilise the RBI’s UDGAM portal to identify them and claim such deposits across multiple banks. Further, he shared information on the RBI Integrated Ombudsman Scheme, guiding customers to lodge complaints free of cost through the CMS portal or by calling the toll-free number 14448, if the complaints are not addressed by the Regulated Entities (REs) viz. banks/NBFCs/Payment System Participants/Credit Information Companies satisfactorily, or the customer has not received the reply within 30 days after the date of the representation to the REs. He also informed that financial frauds should be reported immediately by calling the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal’s toll-free number 1930. He also informed the attendees that insurance, though not compulsory is a valuable financial instrument that everyone should have as a safety net for self and family.

While addressing the customers Shri Balbir Singh, GM, SLBC Convener said that the account holder opening the PMJDY account is provided an overdraft facility of ₹10,000 immediately. Apart from this, the facility of accident insurance of ₹2 lakh is also provided to the card holder in the PMJDY account.

In this mega camp, new savings accounts were opened under the PMJDY scheme, and enrolments were done in PMSBY and PMJJBY schemes. Apart from this, customers were also made aware about re-KYC, nomination facility and protection from digital fraud. During these camps, customers were cautioned against sharing their OTP, PIN, password, or any other confidential credentials with anyone, and were advised to remain vigilant in order to prevent instances of cyber fraud.

In these Gram Panchayat-level camps in Khagrabari-II (Maynaguri block) and Majhiali (Rajganj block), a large number of customers successfully completed their re-KYC.
